OPERATIONS MANAGER (JOB OPEN)

We are SAS of Luxemburg Wisconsin in our 35th year of manufacturing custom designed material handling forks and attachments for the salvage, quarry and construction industries. Over the past few months we have launched several exciting initiatives and we are looking for the right individual to lead our company’s manufacturing operations into the future. While our external focus is to build on our excellent reputation in the auto recycling and quarry mining industries throughout North America, our internal focus will be to continue to innovate our products through a talented team of bright and passionate people. While our world is Volvo, John Deere, Komatsu and other material handling giants our back yard is a fun, laid back setting in Northeastern Wisconsin where we take work and fun seriously.

Brief Job Description: Our company is a Manufacturer of Specialty Heavy Duty Forks.  Applications for our forks include material handling at Rock Quarries, Auto Salvage Yards, Constructions Contractors, and other Heavy Uses.  Customers include end users, and resellers such as: Volvo, Caterpillar and John Deere.  We are seeking a person with top quality welding abilities for wire welding of ½” to 4” steel with multi-pass welds required of ¾” and greater.  Welds are structural and must have full penetration and strength and are required to hold 70,000 pound yield up to 110,000 pound yield.  The applicant must be able to read and understand blue prints, have good math skills, be able to convert decimal measurement to fractions, be able to identify various raw steel materials, run a cut off saw, interpret blue prints and assemble parts.  Ability to do own set-up per print.  Verify measurements are to specifications on print.

General Requirements:  Work is Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, usually 40 hours per week, but overtime is necessary occasionally.

General Outline of Responsibilities:
Goal of this Position: To work safely, efficiently and accurately to manufacture products in a profitable and timely manner.

Professionally fabricate parts with full structural integrity and with a top quality exterior finish.  Weld to project a high quality image to our customers.  Quality integrity of your fabrication is critical.  The quality of the final product and the durable service it must provide, ultimately contribute to the success of the company.  Sub standard quality is not acceptable and is grounds for immediate termination.

Daily:

  • Show up for work on time (10 minutes before your required work time)

  • Clock in on computer to the job # (e.g. FXXX)
  • Mark all incoming new steel with (PO) Purchase Order numbe
  • Mark all cut materials and steel pieces with the job (Fork FXXX) number
  • Sand blast and paint
  • Read, study, understand and follow procedures established by management. Do not deviate from such procedures unless instructed in writing & such is documented in the particular job blue prints signed & dated.
  • Read blue prints, double-check all measurements during fabrication
  • Review, initial & date each part of the blue print, be sure to verify and match each individual’s parts before beginning fork process.
  • Fit & tack parts together to form assembly & verify all dimensions prior to applying final full welds
  • Rotate/sequence/alternate welds evenly on each side of the part to prevent heat warping. Verify measurements on manufactured part are to specification required on the print and complete proof measurement sheet and sign off on proof sheet
  • Clean your work area (daily after each job)

Weekly:

  • Regularly check your supplies. This must be done before we run out.
  • Discuss with the shop supervisor to determine if we need to reorder.
  • Check inventory of commonly used (raw materials) bars and pipes.
  • Check inventory of commonly used (supplies) welding wire, gas and air filters.

MACHINIST (THIS JOB IS CURRNETLY FILLED)

Duties and Responsibilities For Machinist Position
  • Program VMC centers, set-up, run and maintain
  • Set up and utilize Master Cam software to convert AutoCad & Solid
  • Works drawings to machining center code
  • Set up and run manual lathes, boring machine, saws, and other general metal fabrication work.   

Equipment to run: Vertical Machining Centers: Toyoda VMC45, Toshiba VMC80, Toshiba VMC.   Manual Boring Machines: Toshiba Boring Machine, Sherman Boring Machine. Lathes, Cut-off Saws, 200 Ton Press, or other metal fabrication equipment.

Work Day: Typical work day may include 30% VMC, 30% Boring Machine, 30% Operating manual lathe, drill press, mill, 10% General Shop Work (including break press, saw, or other equipment operation)

CNC Programing Required: G-Code writing, editing and set up. Knowledge of Master-Cam software.

Materials Working On: Various grades of steel, 1/2" to 4" thick.
Candidates with weld skills ideal.
Actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives (processes, products, etc)

  • Optimum candidate will have previous professional machining, VMC, and boring machine experience. Also be able to program VMC, setup, operate, and maintain machinery independently. And be able to follow blue prints to layout and tack together weldments.
  • Education 2 year Associates Machinist Degree from Technical College

SALESPERSON/APPLICATIONS ENGINEER (JOB FILLED)

Seeking experienced salesperson with proven results record.  Primary responsibility will be cold calling over the road to prospects throughout the USA.

Position: Applications Engineer

Classification: Salaried/Exempt 

Position Scope: Under the direction of and reporting to the President, the Applications Engineer is responsible for serving as the company resource for attaining profitable sales revenue. This individual will be effective in developing customer relationships and obtaining the necessary technical knowledge to provide effective solutions to customers who have a need for custom, reliable and rugged material handling applications. This position is also responsible for the development of new market segments i.e. quarry and construction markets. This position will also help the company expand its geographic presence in new markets. Attain the objectives for the profitability and sales revenues in support of SAS’s annual business plan. Create in conjunction with the SAS sales team and management team the desired brand image of the company. 

Duties and Responsibilities For Salesperson
Develop sales strategies and effective sales practices that result in a consistent increase in profitable fork sales and other material handling related products:
  • Contribute to marketing efforts that expand SAS’s desired brand and market position
  • Develop and identify the dealer network when the specific market channel requires it in new and existing market channels. It’s critical for this individual to be a knowledgeable in the trade practices of selecting, managing and motivating dealers. This includes having and acquiring the knowledge of their business practices and how SAS can contribute to their growth  
  • Work to build profitable relationships with new customers as well as existing customers
  • Always be “on the lookout” for new business and identify profitable opportunities in line with SAS’s annual budget and long term strategic plan
  • Assist in the development of a market information system that nurtures, organizes and disseminates critical knowledge regarding material handling trends, market trends, technical influences and competitive threats
  • Contribute to the development of a sales forecasts and market segment objectives by product segment
  • Help to develop and implement the SAS marketing communications strategy and related tools
  • Participate and attract the most appropriate product and service training systems either available within SAS or within the industry
  • Participate in the development of an effective sales service system (customer service retention activities and support)
REQUIREMENTS:
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to meet and exceed sales goals, expanding market share and identifying new opportunities.
  • To that end this individual must be able to perform the following:
  • Trend-spotter or strategist who understands the material handling industry and can put SAS in a position to be on top of new business trends
  • Understanding and advance their role in the overall company plan  
  • Ability to provide marketing innovation and leadership. Actively participate and lend skills in developing a process for marketing SAS’s evolving product line
  • Ability to develop a process in order to understand the needs of material handling customers and their dealers (when applicable)

  • Up to 50% of the position will be spent in the field with customers and business partners (dealers) within SAS’s geographic (primarily Midwest and Eastern States.)
Qualifications:
